Apply for a Grant

The ACVIM Foundation welcomes grant applications from active Diplomates and co-principal investigators (Residents enrolled in ACVIM-approved residency programs and/or non-ACVIM Diplomates). We strongly encourage Specialists in private practice to apply for grants÷and to collaborate with Diplomates in academia.

Due to the tremendous support of our donors, we are pleased to announce that we have the following opportunities available for the 2008/2009 Grant Cycle:

Resident applicants may request up to $12,500 per year.

Diplomate applicants may request up to $15,000 per year.

A Canine Oncology Grant will be awarded to at least one proposal up to $50,000.* Total amount (Single or multi-year).

$20,000 grants will be awarded to collaborative/multi-center proposals, with preference toward private practice/academia partnerships.

As the 2007 Specialty Challenge winners, the specialty of Neurology will have an additional grant available (Diplomate or Resident Proposal) up to $15,000 per year.

Two Neurology Resident Grants up to $12,500 each. Total amount (Single or multi-year). A special thanks to Veterinary Neuro Services and Animal Neurology & MRI Center for funding these grants.

$20,000 Multi-Center Neurology Grant. Total amount (single or multi-year). This grant is sponsored by Bush Veterinary Neurology Service and we thank them for their generosity.

$100,000 Feline Chronic Renal Failure Grant. Total amount (Single or multi-year).

$100,000 Feline Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Grant. Total amount (Single or multi-year). These feline grants are in memory of Brian C. Pohanka.

We will consider funding for multi-year projects up to three years, subject to annual non-competitive renewal based on availability of funds and demonstration of adequate progress on the project. The ACVIM Foundation must receive a summary report within three months after the last funding date at the completion of a project.

*The number of Chase Away K9 Cancer grants will be determined on funds available at the end of our 2007/2008 fiscal year.
