Announcing the 2008 Specialty Challenge!

Help Your Specialty Become the Winner!

Last year we had overwhelming support of the first annual Specialty Challenge.

Our 2007 Champions were Neurology and Oncology!!

Who will be this yearÕs winners? Will it be Cardiology, Neurology, Oncology, Small or Large Animal Internal Medicine? It's up to you! The following are the rules for the challenge:

• ACVIM Specialties will compete by highest average donation (total dollar amount/# of Diplomates in Specialty). The Specialty with the highest average donation will win the Specialty Challenge. Special recognition will go towards the Specialty with the highest percentage of participation.
• The Challenge will launch via e-mail on May 23, 2008
• Specialty Chairs have the option of initiating their own launches as well via their listserves or other gatherings.
• Each Specialty will have a minimum of 1 Chair to lead their efforts.
• Individual contributions, Paws for Cures Sponsorships, and Practice Leadership ($5,000) contributions will be counted.
• Practice Leadership contributions will be distributed by each Practice Partner's Specialty.
• The Challenge will be based on gifts received THIS FISCAL YEAR (Oct. 1, 2007 - Sept. 30, 2008)
• The ACVIM Foundation booth will be equipped with blank pledge forms as well as renewal forms.
• We are placing a board near the Foundation booth that tallies results day to day.

The Prize:
A study will be funded in the winning specialty. Studies must meet the ACVIM Foundation grant application requirements and receive Scientific Review Committee approval. If suitable applications are not received in the winning specialty the funds will be rolled over to the next grant cycle.

Other Incentives:
Bragging rights!!! The winning specialty will be recognized at the 2009 ACVIM Forum in Montreal.

The winning specialty will also receive recognition via an ad in the Journal of Veterinary Internal Medicine. Practice Leadership Members included in the wining specialty will have their logos included in the full page JVIM ad.
